Your content is valuable and quality is essential.
MPEG means quality and the Osprey-2000 brings that quality to
you through its implementation of a full-feature MPEG-1 and
MPEG-2 codec. MPEG has become the professional standard for
digital video and the Osprey-2000 bridges the gap between the
streaming and professional video markets.
Quality capture is Osprey's hallmark, so the Osprey-2000 raises
the bar through integration of professional-quality digital
and analog video and audio inputs. You have come to expect the
best from Osprey Video capture products and the Osprey-2000
delivers video and audio quality that professionals expect.
The Osprey-2000 goes where no other products in the streaming
media market have gone by providing transcoding capability from
MPEG into popular streaming formats "on-the-fly."
This transcoding capability opens up a myriad of VOD applications
where content can be repurposed and streamed from a central
archive eliminating the need to retain some of your lesser-accessed
content archives in dozens of streaming formats. Osprey-2000
can deliver the streams you require when you need them.
|
| |
| The Osprey-2000 is a multi-faceted product
with four distinct modes of operation: MPEG encode, MPEG decode,
capture/preview, and transcoding modes which convert MPEG-1
or MPEG-2 files into either RealVideo or Windows Media streaming
formats. |
| |
| The professional quality MPEG encoding serves
the streaming world for both live and Video On-Demand (VOD)
purposes and is ideally suited for enterprise video networking
applications. The Osprey-2000 MPEG encoding, decoding and audio/video
capture are available from a variety of analog as well as digital
DV and SDI video sources. The MPEG decoding ability allows the
Osprey-2000 to be used for high quality MPEG archiving of content
that can be later decoded in hardware and delivered to RealProducer
or other streaming media encoders, effectively delivering realtime
transcoding and streaming from an MPEG source file in one step.
|
| |
| Bringing an MPEG codec into Osprey product
family provides a truly scalable multiple functioning device
that fits many numerous applications and bridges the gap between
streaming technology and the broadcast and professional video
mediums. |
| |
| The Osprey-2000 delivers on many levels,
from editing uncompressed video in AVI or Extended AVI formats;
professional MPEG audio/video archiving and streaming applications,
playback of high-quality MPEG -1 and MPEG-2 MP@ML files, transcoding
from MPEG source files into RealVideo and Windows Media streaming
formats "on-the-fly," and professional-grade analog
and digital audio and video inputs. The Osprey-2000 has it all! |
| |
| These exciting new Osprey-2000 capabilities
are what video professionals have been waiting for. Some of
the Osprey-2000 modes and capabilities are explained in more
detail as follows: |
| |
|
|
| |
Without using MPEG features,
video and audio can be captured, viewed and monitored
to in real time. In this mode, video is displayed on the
computer monitor and audio is directed to the audio out
connectors. The audio is fed to speakers or looped back
into a sound card. |
| |
|
|
|
| |
MPEG Encoding of your video
source can be turned on without disturbing the previewing
process. Or, you can capture and encode from one set of
audio and video sources while previewing another. While
encoding, the compressed MPEG data is moved to the host
in the background and can be stored on disk, streamed
over a network, or passed to another application. MPEG
Encoding does not require preview of the audio and video
material, enabling timed recording like those performed
with a traditional VCR. |
| |
|
|
|
| |
MPEG decoding can be done
at any time, independent of the preview and MPEG encode
operations. Preview of video and audio can be switched
from live sources to the decoded source. |

Years of superior-quality
Osprey Video product design has culminated in the Osprey-2000.
This unique MPEG encoding/decoding and professional capture
device offers high-end capture features offering both
professional digital and analog audio and video inputs.
The Osprey-2000 offers SDI and DV digital video inputs.
It also offers AES/EBU digital audio, embedded SDI audio
support as well as professional-grade analog audio and
video inputs. |
| |
|
|
|
| |
A very unique capability
of the Osprey-2000 is its ability to decode an MPEG file
and then encode the resulting output (uncompressed digital
format) into either RealVideo or Windows Media formats.
This revolutionary new feature will enable "on-the-fly"
streaming from high-quality MPEG archives into a rich
media stream or file. |

|
| Osprey-2000 Model Overview |
| |
| Within the four primary modes of operation
(capture/preview, MPEG encode, MPEG decode and MPEG to streaming
format transcoding), there are several versions of the Osprey-2000
available. They models have capture/preview, MPEG decode, and
transcode functionality. Two of the models have full codec capabilities
including the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding capabilities and these
are referred to as the Codec models of the Osprey-2000. The
four products in the Osprey-2000 product family are divided
into two product groups, two full codec models, and two decode
models. |
 |
| Codec Models |
| The two Osprey-2000 codec models support
all four of the major modes of operations including capture/preview,
MPEG encoding, MPEG decoding and MPEG to streaming format transcoding
capabilities. These two Codec model differ only by their input
types and are described in the following table: |
| |
| Model |
Description |
| Osprey-2000 |
Full MPEG-2 codec with
analog inputs.
The Osprey-2000 model is the base MPEG encoder and decoder
card coupled with capture card capabilities. All inputs/output
are analog. These include analog composite and S-Video,
and unbalanced and balanced audio.
|
| Osprey-2000
DV Pro |
Full MPEG-2 codec with
SDI, AES/EBU, DV and analog inputs.
The Osprey-2000 DV Pro includes everything found in the
Osprey-2000 Pro model plus an IEEE-1394 port for a DV
input. The DV input provides for real time decoding of
DV in hardware. The result of this decode is a digital
uncompressed audio and video stream. Audio and video can
be selected just like the other inputs for capture or
for MPEG encoding, facilitating DV to MPEG transcoding
as well as capture of decompressed DV in real time.
|
|
 |
| Decode Models |
| The two MPEG decode models support all the
major Osprey-2000 platform functionality with the exception
of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding capabilities. These decode models
support audio/video capture, MPEG decode, and MPEG to streaming
format transcoding. |
| |
| As with the Codec models, these models differ
only in their digital input types and are described in the table
below: |
| |
| Model |
Description |
| Osprey-2000
D DV |
MPEG-2 decoder/transcoder
with DV and analog inputs,The Osprey-2000 D DV model is
the base MPEG decoder with an IEEE-1394 port for a DV
input. The DV input provides for real time decoding of
DV in hardware. The result of this decode is a digital
uncompressed audio and video stream that can be selected
as any other input for capture. This feature makes possible
the capture of decompressed DV in real time. |
| Osprey-2000
D DV Pro |
MPEG-2 decoder/transcoder
with SDI, AES/EBU, DV and analog inputs.
The Osprey-2000 D DV Pro model combines all the capture
capabilities of the Osprey-2000 D DV and the Osprey-2000
D Pro models.
